WHITE SOLSTICE / SOLSTICIO BLANCO ( Lena V. Verona)

The winter solstice is a symbol of hope. Since ancient times the Roman and Celtic traditions commemorate the night that precedes Christmas return of the sun, and the days were longer. In Christian culture the celebration of light which is reborn commemorates the birth of Jesus son of Joseph and Mary, prophet and messiah for salvation.

This year the magic night I was surprised at my abandoned lighthouse. Normally the same reflector lamps are off, but today I managed to turn its light more vigorous will be a star in the prodigious night. Maybe it can help guide a sailor lost at sea ice.

Snowflakes falling and the cold and wind are intense. I am alone, with the only company of Sröhder, a sleek black cat that appears to arise from a story by Edgar Allan Poe. To this little cat I call him so because I never know whether or not it is, like the famous cat experiment Sröhdinger quantum. Although it also could have called Chesire, like the cat from Alice in Wonderland also appear and disappear, her smile faded gradually in the air.

I'm down to the beach covered with a thin white mantle. About the same I have sketched an outline of my face frozen with a piece of cane. Beneath the cracks in the drawing is black and wet sand, impregnated with gold highlights. The snow keeps falling and soon my impromptu portrait in the snow will disappear forever in the eternal night.

Returning to the lighthouse I heard "Silent Night". This traditional carol brings back memories of my native Prades, in the mountains of Tarragona, where I lived with emotion the arrival of fantastic beings like the trunk of magical tree called "Tio" or the Three Kings of Orient. Events were full of mystery and subtlety. One Christmas Eve, came to the house where he lived with my parents, a pair of wolves that under the overhead light of the moon, walked calmly along the old road leading to the snow nearby village. Over the years, the nostalgia is sweet and bitter at once.

Snow-white cotton balls are falling flatly on the sea, as fragile sugar. Everything is real and unreal on nights like this. I'll open a bottle of champagne and I´ll drink for a better world, leaving lead by a strange feeling that makes me see the reality around us as unknowable. The celebration of this unusual white solstice will be with my black cat and golden bubbles of happiness wine. From early extravagant idea turns me on the head: the desire to change the world.

As with the amazing song by Eric Clapton, it would be wonderful to catch a star, make it shine in my heart and show the truth of it. It's nice to think about that impossible utopia, born from our dreams, desires to be as brilliant and blinding light. As recite the verses of “Change the World”: "I would be the sunlight in your universe. And you'd think that my love is truly a wonderful thing, baby, if I could change the world"

I wish that the light of the houselight of reality to be bright this Christmas Eve with the charm and glamor of the old Lighthouse of Alexandria in its most splendid period, which was guide of lost sailors of losers with broken dreams and hopes of the skeptics.

Bitter ashes (IV) / Cenizas amargas ( Lena V.Verona)

If each of the names on the first list was matched with its correct date, one could conclude that the Bible knew the future of mankind from the time it was written by Moses, 3000 years before Christ. Moreover hitting probability by chance of 32 matches correctly, was smaller than hit the Sports Lottery for example, is correctly choose 6 numbers from 49 possible.

The possibility that the experiment of 32 matches without any mistake was a chimera, a priori it was almost impossible. However, the work of three mathematicians seemed to show unequivocally that the great men of Israel were inevitably linked with their correct dates of birth and death. This result was frightening and left me breathless.

The authors raised several hypotheses experimentally verified. Also, as comparative control, all experiments were conducted in parallel to form multiple, contrasting with a text in Hebrew of the novel War and Peace by Tolstoy. The aim was to show that all these amazing coincidences occur only in the original biblical text. Indeed, no other checks of course there was the phenomenon: for example in the same text of the Bible expressly randomly disordered in several different ways.

All that kept me from mathematical tangle overwhelmingly reach the merits: Was there really the code or on the contrary it was a cleverly executed magic trick? The conclusions were unequivocal: the biblical text contains more than a philosophical theory, hid hidden messages that warn us of coming events. It was clear that the rational side of myself I could not accept such conclusions. Then I began to address other aspects of the topic. What other schools of thought existed in the world on the same topic?

I started looking for information on the Internet, it was an inexhaustible source of all data types. Immediately I ran with a lot of opposing views together. The code of the Bible had zealots, but also terrible opponents. The first was due to the profile of people who believe anything a priori without hardly blinking, and the latter stood against the folly of the mathematical theory of Israel without a second thought: no need to enter into any statistical proof.

As background, the journal Statistical Science kept a prudent silence, giving rise to the proponents of the existence of the Bible code further reaffirm their theory, as if the magazine was infallible, like I was under the protection of God Himself .

Drosnisn´s book contained a lot of examples showing the prophecies of the Bible Code. In the case of the assassination of Rabin, the author narrates that scoured the Bible for the name Yitzhak Rabin:! Only appeared once, in 4772 an alternating sequence of spaces! The computer divided the entire Bible (the complete strand 304,805 words) in 64 rows of 4772 letters each, which was a mathematical matrix of the text.

According to Drosnin , the Bible was codified three thousand years ago so finding the name of Rabin immediately give us additional information on some crucial fact of their existence. In this case, intersecting with the name of Yitzhak Rabin met the word "murderer who would kill. According to the probability that Drosnisn spontaneously Rabin's name was crossed with the prediction of his murder was only one in three thousand.

********************************************************************************

Bitter ashes / Cenizas amargas (III) ( Lena V.Verona)

The first thing I did was study in detail the original work of the three Israeli mathematicians Doron Witztum, Eliyahu Rips and Yoav Rosenberg, Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis. The summary of the authors themselves stated: "It has been observed that when the book of Genesis is written in rows and columns in two dimensions, often appear equidistant letter sequences that form words coming interrelated. Quantitative tools have been developed to evaluate this phenomenon. A random analysis shows that the effect is of significance at 0.0002. "

The article's authors began by explaining the background of similar work. Several decades ago the rabbi Weissmandel, found some interesting patterns in the Hebrew Pentateuch (The Five Books of Moses), consisting of words or sentences in the form of equidistant letter sequences (ELS´s), obtained by selecting letters separated by an equal number of letters in the text. For example, every two, three or ten letters. Apparently this method Weissmandel provided a large number of words that showed a certain kind of relationship with each other. The conclusion was clear: the Bible was codified.

The question was, however, whether the words of the Torah's crosswords originated by a phenomenon of random nature, or contrary to obey the will of someone with malice aforethought had been included in the text. The three Israeli mathematicians approached the challenge by forming arrays of rows and columns, from reorganizing the biblical text. The matrices are generated by alternative jumps over the letters of the text, reorganized into a single strand of letters. Below is searched for possible words in each of the matrices and investigated whether they had any relation between them.

If these words were also reasonably close (defined a statistic that he considered the Euclidean distance) could be inferred that this phenomenon was not due to laws specific to the combinatorial probability. Mathematicians established a complex method, designing a series of algorithms and checking whether the method was reliable, or what is the same if they could obtain statistically significant conclusions (Null hypothesis).

The Bible text used was known as the Textus Receptus, published by Coren Publishing Company of Jerusalem, accepted as legitimate by all the experts on biblical themes. On the other hand, mathematicians conducted another experiment for possible relationships between two data lists. In the first list were introduced 32 Jewish personalities chosen in the Encyclopedia of the leaders of Israel. In the second list were the dates of birth or death of these characters. The investigation was first to find each of the data from both lists in the Bible using the method of matrix formation, and then match the data from the first list with the second, using the proximity criterion described above.

                                 ***************************************

Enigma

Who gets to leave the beauty without breath it forces it to achieve its goal, and its work will be beautiful. You have to fatigue it. This strenuous effort gives to the new beauty the grandeur of a Medusa´s head.

                Jean Cocteau. Commentary, IV

The events described are based on historical sources. This is a story of blood where is hidden an enigma. I describe the slaughter in black and white to emphasize more vividly the pathos of what happened.

This story is projected onto an infinite space, where reality is distorted into a thousand facets and acquires a relief frightening. I am part of everything I do not know and I know that nobody will believe my story. They will say that it's a psychedelic lighting and that is cracy. My words will be interpreted with several variants, like so many rivers have soul.

The memory, which is what allows us to contemplate the passing of time, is hollow in my story. In a way this evidence is illusory. I was born unexpectedly, like a dewdrop. Soon I sensed an uncertain future, as I glided through a plain rough.

My appearance is unpleasant: a little greasy mass turbulent stirring and a trail marked with black and gray as it goes. I sail through black lava fields. I 'm going through fields lit by faint shadows under the cold light of a bulb. After just let me alone, a wanderer plenty of my own shadow.

Wailing and moaning to sad melody. The battlefield is surrounded by black death. With redoubled force drumbeat of eternal recurrence. Is there an extermination worst nightmare that never stops? A horse crazy is braying with a braking voice. It's like a horrible nightmare.

I watch the inconsolable grief of a mother to look flat and delusional. The landscape is broken into clouds of hot dust and lead. My atoms are thrown into chaos under a dim glow

A bull tears a shattering roar, waving their horns with apocalyptic force. I pass through places at breakneck speed. The earth groans while a fine rain of fire stained the horizon of grief. Objects are distorted and flashing lights, tearing apart their space.

A singing bird emits a brief, sweet and fragile. My being is lost in a thousand tiny fragments. I sense the end and nothing. But not my sacrifice will be in vain. It is born a magical symbol of symbolisms, infernal maze, crystallized in a space unchanged forever and ever.

His mythic image will be multiplied until exhaustion. I float in a cloud of silver and icy areas are inflamed. My being poured into a mysterious sea and all will be fulfilled. Then I will run my destiny.

A tear dark joined to the hatched reality. It faded on the canvas and the time stopped. Pablo Picasso in his studio of Paris had just given the finishing touch to the painting known as Guernica. His enormous rage and indignation at the cruel bombardment of the Basque town of Guernica in the Spanish Civil War, by the troops of General Franco, was expressed in a monumental and unique canvas. To always it will be unwavering and unshakable testimony of atrocities and senseless wars. It was the year nineteen hundred and thirty-seven. Possibly it was spring.

                                                                         ********

The scented desserts of Jordi Roca/ Los postres perfumados de Jordi Roca

Jordi Roca is a young Catalan chef who has achieved the amazing feat of connecting food with high perfumery. Jordi Roca, along with his brothers  Joan and Josep, leads a prestigious restaurant: El Celler de Can Roca. The restaurant, which is located in Taialà, a small village near Girona, won last week's third Michelin star.
In September 2005, the Roca brothers were players in front of Restaurant Magazine, one of the most prestigious food magazines in the world. Currently the restaurant is situated in fifth place in the classification established by the British magazine cited the best restaurants worldwide. I worked with Jordi Roca and his brothers in some projects of science and art, and I am always been surprised by its creativity and innovativeness.

Jordi Roca began his adventure in the field of perfumery following have noticed that some citrus, bergamot from Calabria, smelled like a well-known perfume: Eternity by Calvin Klein. Jordi Roca explained: "We felt very odd and smelling the scent association detected, in addition, tangerine, basil, orange blossom, vanilla ... The perfume components are fruit, spices or flowers, in short, elements that we use every day in the kitchen. A perfume is a series of aromatic interesting associations. I thought that detecting and translating those chords could be a good fit between products and different dessert. "

Jordi Roca to adapt the ingredients used perfume Eternity own making any dessert: vanilla cream, water, basil, orange blossom jelly, iced mandarin and bergamot ice cream of course, among others. The magic creative of Jordi Roca is not stopped there, but it took the personal challenge of making new adaptations of famous perfumes. Thus developed a long succession of "edible perfumes" as the "Tresor" and "Miracle" by Lancôme, "Envy" by Gucci, Angel by Thierry Mugler, L'Eau d'Issey, Eau d'Orange Verte and "Un Jardin en Mediterranee" by Hermès, "Coco Mademoiselle" by Chanel, "Lolita Lempicka", "Polo Sport" by Ralph Lauren, "DKNY", and so on.

Jordi Roca explains his experiences in the world of perfumery: perfume adaptations are the answer to what we interpret to smell the perfume, which does not always match its actual composition. Basically taste like a dessert. Above all we seek to be good and we detect them in the same flavor notes to see when we smell the scent that inspired it. For example, Trésor by Lancôme, which smells like freesias, is a warm peach cream, some fresh loquat syrup, vanilla, apricot sorbet, a rose jam, jelly and honey caramel rose petals.

Jordi Roca explains how to create their fragrances: "Not all perfumes are likely to be successfully adapted for dessert. Perfumes with more floral notes are more difficult to become a good dessert and also why women's fragrances, which are usually more fruity than male, give us more game. "Jordi Roca aims to recreate the  air original fragrance in his desserts. In any case he want to make an exact transposition of the same. The desserts are served in their restaurant with a small strip of paper and a small bottle  of the original scent for the diner to smell and compare both creations. This is an innovative stunt similar to that made Picasso to paint from an cubist angle "The Meninas", inspired in the famous painting by Velazquez.

The game of subtleties of the author allows the diner to accept their proposal in a playful sense. The scented desserts  of Jordi Roca are abstractions of reality and as such have three basic psychological dimensions: aesthetics, the emotional and conceptual. Studies show that assimilates sensory information is proportional to the surprise that  produce us. There is no doubt that the "surprise dessert" by Jordi Roca  alert us sensory to arouse our curiosity.

The sum of the three basic psychological components of Jordi Roca desserts, like any work of art, makes a final assessment is not without its own subjectivity of each person. The diner's own perspective is crucial for definitive judgments. In any case, enjoy desserts Jordi Roca is an unusual sensory experience that leaves a delightful aftertaste on the palate. The scented desserts of Jordi Roca have a special glamour and now are permanently blessed with a rain of invisible stars.

                                                               *********

Bitter ashes / Cenizas amargas (II) ( Lena V.Verona)

It all started when in 1994 the American journal Statistical Science published an article written by three Israeli mathematicians (Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis) that claimed to have discovered a subtext in the Hebrew version of Genesis formed by equidistant letter sequences each other. According to the authors cited this prophetic phrases enclosed subtext. The work of three mathematicians (Doron Witztum, Eliyahu Rips and Yoav Rosenberg) sought to demonstrate, using a complex statistical technique, that the origin of these messages was not coincidental; argued that the messages were divine origin.

Genesis is one of the five books which form the first part of the Bible, the Torah, given to the Prophet Moses by God, according to the Judeo-Christian tradition. In other words, those authors argued that the Bible contained a secret code, and that they had found the decoding tool. As you might guess, this assertion, made from a scientific platform of the first magnitude, had led to an unprecedented global turmoil.

In 1997, Richard Drosnin, a prominent independent journalist, who had previously worked in the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, published the book The Bible Code, which was reproduced in an appendix to the work of the three Israeli mathematicians. The book describes examples of encrypted messages, most prophetic character, relating to key facts in the history of mankind: the Jewish Holocaust, the launch of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, the Kennedy assassination, the arrival of man on the moon etc.

At the time, was unable to judge the veracity of the claims made by Drosnisn. The subject was too complex to be analyzed in a cursory fashion. However, several things were clear: should deepen the work of the three Israeli mathematicians to get to the merits, should also soak in biblical themes, and probably in the Hebrew language related topics. I had not the slightest doubt that in any case the issue was really exciting. A sixth sense warned me that it would not be easy to find the keys to the puzzle.

Then I remembered some wise thoughts I had read somewhere: "There are things like the wind but there certainly are not, but one night not far feel a puff of cherry flavor impregnated and learn that time and forgetfulness are the only things that have no end. "During the following weeks I was polishing some of the work concerning the disappeared of Hilari Roura and I neglected biblical crossword puzzles. However, my subconscious warned me not to totally abandon the subject of the Bible code. I reread the text again Drosnin, this time more carefully, trying to study carefully every sentence, every word, and every punctuation mark. I had endless questions. The first reading, I made almost diagonal, wrapped me in a halo of mystery that I blocked the ability to think. Now, more calmly, he began to sense certain elements that called into question the goodness of the text.

I noticed a vague impression that I was in a field of quicksand. As had once heard in the presentation retrospective of the artist Jordi Mercader at the Museum of Valls, the language of art is more than pure creation, the art is a primary form of communication, a language become a mechanism of thought and making vital decisions. In this way art becomes a personal justification and on an assumption of existence. This way of thinking is what defines my mood and without intending to take me to a path of no return. The elucidation of the truths of the Bible code was at first a curiosity which later became a deep obsession.

Bitter ashes / Cenizas amargas (I) ( Lena V.Verona)

The superstitious believe penetrate that organic writing  : thirteen guests articulate the symbol of death, an opal yellow, the disgrace ...

                                                                                                                   The mirror of enigmas.

                                                                                                                     Jorge Luis Borges

It was October 1997 when I heard for the first time the existence of the Bible code. However, despite the long period since then, I still remember the surprise that made me know that the Bible could keep secrets hidden in the bowels of its verses. An article in the press spoke of a book that had become a real best seller, with over half a million copies sold worldwide. The book claimed that the Bible contained encrypted messages from prophetic character.

The author was an American journalist who had studied the subject for several years. The conclusions reached were amazing: the Bible contained a mathematical code introduced by the author thereof (presumably God). Some mathematical Israelites had managed to decipher the code. As an example he mentioned, the author claimed to have known earlier death of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. All efforts to warn the political threat that proved futile, even sent a letter informing him of the situation: "The original text of the Bible contains a subtext where the word is linked with the phrase Yitzhak Rabin murderer who would kill ".

A year later, on November 4, 1995 Yitzhak Rabin was murdered by someone who believed sent by God. Also the news release announcing the book prophesied that towards the year 2006 envisaged a world war and nuclear holocaust.

Those days were occupied in completing a manuscript in which he described the last hours of the writer's life Hilari Roura, disappeared some years ago in tragic circumstances, of which without trying I witnessed.
For this reason, perhaps, I forgot almost entirely the affair of the Bible code until a few days later I came across the book in a bookstore downtown Tarragona Rambla Nova. I could not resist tempted to buy it.
I got home mid-afternoon. The day was drawing to a close, a faint mist covered everything and a translucent veil the mountains on the horizon blurred. After turning on the fireplace with some old logs - the weather was not very cold, but wet - and sit comfortably in an old chair, I started reading the book avidly. Only I took a break to eat some cheese.

At midnight had ended with the feverish task. I must confess that the reading was very shallow (almost diagonal), stopping only where thought appropriate to focus my interest. The priority was to find out what it was the course code.

The book left me confused. I could think of several questions: Was there really the Bible code? The affirmative answer I posed another question: why had not been discovered before? I then  memory for the sequence of events described by Drosnin in his book.

Llegué a mi casa a media tarde.

Next Sunday will be played on football match Barcelona-Real Madrid. For the first time you see the game live in commercial cinemas. Maybe we're not so far from that the magical holographies were a reality. In December 1987 I published "Magical holographies" in the magazine "La gota," which with good accuracy, its director Carlos Diaz labelled as irregular and of questionable content. Now, two decades after the holograms are again light.

While this was my long stay in the damp dungeon, an innocent game of chance preserved me from madness. Real football extrapolated to another mathematician, reproducing the characteristics and emotions of the first. The rough floor of the cell was the frame where I drew the chalk lines and circles the field. Dice, coins and a pocket watch were part of the ritual. I built fancy artificial paradises, that offering me the dice. I created an iterative method to predict the outcome of games. I immersed myself in a virtual world in my desperate fight against paranoia.

Over time I realized that focuses on implementing a tight game produces an unprecedented intellectual enjoyment, which is probably due to the magical projection of the game of life, maximal, infinite and intransgressible. To create some run games is like playing God. When I regained my freedom I could go back to the spectacle of the great games in stadiums packed with passionate fans. Apparently nothing had changed, except for one small detail. Now football was holographic. During my years of isolation from the world the genius of the ball were disappearing and being left empty stadiums. But one day someone reinvented the old football.

Using a sophisticated laser technique and complex software it was generated holograms of humans on the rectangle of play. Nobody would be able to distinguish a real player in a virtual. It is possible to reproduce the appearance of reality to the absolute limits. However, nothing is as it seems: the stadium, spectators, grass, and the goals are real, the players and the referee are virtual. But does it matter? "Can provide significant differences between the nature of light that bounces off the electronic shields the atoms in the grass and the light generated by a laser beam shows a holographic player?

With holographic football  is feasible, for example, watch one team play Pele, Cruiff, Kubala and Reixach. It is as if we could manipulate space and time at will.

There are held occasionally reprints of famous games. Recently It was organized a rematch of the final of the 1966 World Cup between Germany and England. Fans attending the football extravaganza as the Romans were in ancient times to the circus. In these extraordinary events are bet large sums of money and the games are broadcast live by major television networks worldwide. The reconstruction of a historic game with the excitement of ignoring the result resembles the paradox of quantum theory: Schrödinger's cat is alive and dead at once.

Although the initial conditions of a game are the same, the game's development is determined by the luck. Before starting a match all results are possible. Random and unpredictable events such as a ball crashing into a pole or lightly touches the same and strain into the rival goal relentlessly weave the fate of each meeting. The amateur cravings savor with delight that gives the chance and live emotionally every play, even knowing that they are all unreal, as unreal is the game of life.

Utopias and nonsense / Utopías y sinsentidos ( Lena.V. Verona)

According to the theories of the monk who said yesterday, the men who are qualified as "bad" come to logical conclusions claiming that the world has no sense, by all means look. So we come to questions that are unspeakable as Gödel's theories. We know is that life makes everything about life. Expression is intrinsic to express their determination cybernetics. Life does everything necessary for the existence of the sacred flame is not extinguished. Never mind the human beings referred to as isolated individuals.

So, everything is a hoax. The social sense, love of neighbor, sorrow for the loss of a loved one is cheating only brings us life. The inevitable conclusion is devastating and leads to the proclamation of a carpe diem for life. Enjoy the moment that anything goes: no ethics or religion, nor morality, nor lies. It is nonsense for nonsense.

At the other neuronal configuration group are people who suppress their thoughts just before bumping with gödelians reasoning because they come in any case, to be able to glimpse, or because they choose voluntarily. They defend the individual life, as if each piece was important in itself, not as part of a social group. Paradoxically it is most appreciate value of social networks that bind the individuals of a particular community because it makes them stronger. Prevailing religions beliefs in ethical way of life, and they are able to sacrifice their fellow unconditionally for an ideal. They live in peace and happiness that anesthetizing themselves.

It is interesting to see the stark contrast between the two categories of human beings raised by this strange religion trusting and suspicious, which exude a sweet peace and those who perspire mystical existential doubts. Why are not all of the "good"? , we ask. But we are again with untold and philosophical propositions by both unsolvable. The monk of this strange religion advocated, however, in the sense that the second category will strive to be like the first, or whether we were all ethical and good people. Ultimately proclaim what most religions of all time. It is perhaps the best way to achieve heaven on earth.

I also had my moments to reflect on the values of democracy. What sense does it has as a form of government? Is it still valid as the Greeks invented it? Should we modify it? It would be strange that people stopped voting majority were gradually and when the refrain to create new rules. New rules would have perhaps more cerebral and could create positions of responsibility to which they would agree only through hard-fought competitions.

Would enjoy a much more professionalized politics, or perhaps he decide to invent such absurd rules governing the bizarre lottery in Babylon of Borges. It would be fun to proclaim a state of permanent revolution and declared independence as individuals. Like all utopias this possibility is impossible, but it bears within it the seeds of madness fascinating. Can we imagine a world where we were all rulers of our land and not existential existential? The truth is elusive and is shaped by vacuum. But we know from physics that vacuum is not empty at all but an average value ... constantly forming and annihilating particles and antiparticles of matter that produce pure energy ... that part of reality belonging to the world of the unseen and sometimes confused with what we call angels.

The beach of wonders/ La playa de las maravillas (Lena V.Verona)

Accidentally I discovered the lighthouse. I was spending a short holiday in Galicia when I found the wonderland beach. Well, that's how I called to that long stretch of sand beige and black rope stretched between two rugged Galician coastlines. That landscape had a special charm. Their skylight involved a different way of perceiving the world. I immediately knew that this place was I had been dreaming of for my secret project.

Emotion overwhelmed me. I went to the lighthouse, located on the edge of a small piece full of rocks that jutted mussels in a dark green sea waves challenged to play with her. The old lighthouse seemed abandoned. Not with some trepidation I entered the interior. A small circular room showed a disturbing spiral staircase. I walked up the steps of the same with bated breath. I reached the top of the watchtower marina. There was a small room about twelve square meters. At the same noticed a rotten old wooden table and a single bed. There was also a pretty big window. I went to it and opened wide as he watched the show I was appalled.

That feeling was almost indescribable: a gust of humid air with a strong acrid smell hit me face. Outside, huge waves were breaking on rough mounds of white foam on the bottom of the ancient lighthouse. The afternoon and went down, and enormous white and gray seagulls flying in circles around the tower upright. In a nearby village, I learned that the lighthouse could rent. Immediately I decided to spend some time there. I needed some fresh air for my soul, something like a spiritual rebirth. He wanted to find myself. That was a unique opportunity and I would not waste it.

After a few months I back to the lighthouse to stay a while in it. The old tower Navy christened as the "Litghthouse of reality." Why I chose that name? Well, I could have known otherwise, but I liked it. I enjoyed watching reality from the lighthouse, meditating on the sacred nature of it. I spent some months in the lighthouse alone. Almost cut off from the rest of the world, the experience of living a sensory adventure, promised to be very suggestive.

I arrived at the lighthouse on a rainy day and something fresh. The sky, gray color, covered the whole beach. It was the first week of September and blew a salt-laden breeze. I brought with me a suitcase with the essentials for survival: a suitcase, some essential books, some clothes and a laptop. Once a fortnight I would approach the town to buy supplies. From the top of the lighthouse depth Atlantic landscape was almost infinite. Gulls and other sea birds are hovering in search of food.

I took it all in stride. In fact I not even checked the hours on my watch. Let time and the adventure would take me on his way random. The first day I was tinkering with an old play of my youth, entitled "Like a ritual." I wanted to reread it after so many years. He also spent some time to enhance an amazing story about the demise of my dear friend Hilari Roure.

Later I began to ponder the meaning of reality. I recalled my philosophy classes in college and mentally reviewed what the scholars had written about the perception of the world. It was touching to see the reality from my privileged vantage point. I also wrote several short stories to which I called "Disconnected snippets". Some dark nights, watching the endless horizon of the sea, smelling of salt and seafood, I speculated on topics certainly reaches of the human soul. Why neurons have such mysterious actions? The pyramid is also called a lesser extent other interneurons? How strange we are formed human clay? Why is there good and evil in the land he asked the sea? And he answered me with their silent melody of deep wisdom.

I think that loneliness was obstructing the senses ... a temporary sense death? Maybe ... It seems that the intense meditation practiced by certain doctrines Orientalists leads the individual to a state of grace almost cathartic, reaching the most sublime of the highlights. But what neurons have to do with evil? I read recently the theories of a monk of a strange sect who said that as the brain structure of men fall into two categories: good and bad.

Me quedé sobrecogida.

The secret manuscrip of Borges/ El manuscrito secreto de Borges (III)

Borges was tired, but seemed happy. I realized that the writer deliberately introducing philosophical elements in his stories was trying, perhaps, move to the realm of metaphysics rightful fictitious. Borges had fun hiding subliminal information into their creations, hoping that any discerning reader would be able to decipher it. Each new reading of Borges's work could appear on new meanings.

That was when I handed a copy of the Aleph Borges I had with me and asked if we wrote a dedication on it. Borges, after some hesitation, took the book in their hands and said in his special sense of humor: "I have spent many copies of my books would have more value than one that was not signed, but still ...." At that time Maria Kodama, at the end of the bar, took leave of his companion. Borges said quietly: "Tomorrow you can pick up the book at the front desk. In its pages you will find irrefutable proof of my story. "Borges was a lover of the cabal and that is why I thought that he bequeathed us a riddle, or something.

Then I happened to ask: "What would happen if this conversation was fictional, like the chapter of a book written by an unknown author, where Borges and illusory ourselves?" The idea of an apocryphal meeting smiled at Borges. The writer had used this literary device to transform arid sometimes delightful essays in narrative prose. Borges smiled again, this time almost imperceptibly, and waved gently as he whispered softly: "In my end is my beginning. So read the inscription inside the ring of Mary Stuart. "Then he began to move slowly away from the arm of Maria Kodama.

Outside the air was fresh and the night had cast its dark mantle. A few stars twinkled in the sky. It seemed that we were immersed for in unseen dimensions of the universe. The reality according to the reasoning Borges came to be a set of perceptions, emotions, dreams and surprises. The next day I went with my wife at the Hotel Princesa Sofia to collect your copy of Aleph Borges had promised us. The book never appeared. Forgot Borges our request? Is lost in the hotel lobby?

Over time, I have finally deciphered the words of Borges concerning the book disappeared. As I guessed at the time, I locked them a puzzle. The solution was simple: Borges's own work and in her womb containing all the keys to their elucidation. I have found in the Aleph worrying evidence of the astonishing revelation of Borges. The original quote in English of Shakespeare that heads this story I have not picked at random: the same that appears at the beginning of the story Borges. The invocation of Hamlet is like a prayer to God for someone chained to their destination. Perhaps it is a veiled reference to pious Gaudí, captive in their hermetic world of the Holy Family?

There are other paragraphs in the Aleph suggestive that reinforce my assumptions. The first one says: "Incredibly, I think there is, or was, another Aleph. I believe that the Aleph in Garay Street was a false Aleph. "Do these lines Borges trying to tell us that the original Aleph was that he saw in Barcelona? Finally transcribe literally the final paragraph of the story of Borges: "Is there such Aleph in the depths of the stone? Have I seen when I saw everything and I have forgotten? Our minds are porous to oblivion. I myself am distorting and losing, under the wearing of the years, the face of Beatrice. "Could it be that Aleph embedded in the stone which Borges illuminated in the Sagrada Familia? Does it represent metaphorically the Aleph that Borges referred to himself Gaudi temple?

Sometimes, in my melancholy nights, read the Aleph again for new traces. Always stumble with a new hue, with some unexpected interpretation. These findings help me in the unmeasured task of understanding the world. Sometimes, spontaneously, it is emerging new evidence that puzzles me and make up the universe as a place illusory. Impalpable spirits I sense in my vicinity and I feel the presence of Borges smiling mysteriously from the other side of reality.

PS: This story describes an encounter with Borges occurred in the spring of 1980 at the Hotel Princesa Sofia in Barcelona. In the story mixed with some imaginary facts. In Borges key, does fact and fiction is not the same thing?
